Nickel Belt’s M-P says it’s time the federal government steps in when it comes to regulating the rail industry.

Claude Gravelle was commenting as the clean-up continues after a train carrying crude oil derailed near Gogama early Saturday morning resulting in massive explosions and rail cars in the Mattagami River.

Gravelle says enough is enough.

Area First Nations and environmentalists are expressing concerns over possible contamination.

Burgess Hawkins from the Sudbury and District Health Unit says the Drinking Water Advisory remains in effect.

C-N Rail says says it’s working on a temporary bypass around the derailment site near Gogama and hope to have the line back in service later today.
