This week, several city councillors, the Mayor and even the Chief of Police will be delivering meals to clients of Meals on Wheels Sudbury.

This week is March For Meals Week across Canada, a chance to promote the nutritional service and perhaps gain some new volunteers.

According to Executive Director Kelly Zinger, they have 420 clients who depend on them.

The agency makes 36,000 hot and cold meals a year, all delivered by their crew of 55 volunteers.

Zinger says Meals on Wheels not only provides healthy meals, but its a security check for relatives and give clients a bit of social contact throughout the day.

She says it it weren’t for the volunteers, some clients would have no interaction with anyone else throughout the day.

Zinger says they’re always looking for new volunteers and are appreciative of the one’s who already devote their time.
