There’s a colourful new mural on a second floor wall at the YMCA in Sudbury, downtown.

It’s the fourth community mural from Cambrian College.

Art and Design Fundamentals Professor, Johanna Westby, says the artwork was a way to get students involved in a project which is meant to positively impact the community.

Graphic Design student, Lindsay Levesque says she liked the experience of working on a community project and spent 17-hours painting her portion.

Westby says all eight students involved in the mural volunteered their time.

She says students were required to come up with the design, concept and execution, including raising money for the materials.

The theme was “Potential” and the mural depicts a phoenix rising from the ashes.
