The first football game played in Sudbury was way back in 1921 and three years later it was incorporated into the high school curriculum.  The runner up to the Spartans, the Hardrocks didn’t hit the field until the early 1950’s.

Through the next couple of decades, amateur senior football thrived and in 1967, Head Coach Sid Forster changed the name of the club to the Spartans.  A year later the league renamed itself the Northern Football Conference.

This year the Spartans coaches and staff are at it again in preparation for their season that starts May 30th at home against Sarnia.

Head coach Junior Labrosse and GM Billy Costello spoke to Rich & Gary about their plans for the year.
