Sudbury City Council went through a lengthy discussion last night on the Transportation Master Plan which was presented to council.

The document summarized all road developments, enhancements and expansions up to 2031.

Senior Project Planner with MMM Group Limited, Brett Sears says council will have the final say before any construction is acted upon and it’s not a document to go out and begin construction.

Director of Roads and Transportation Services, David Shelsted says creating a discussion is very important, and also mentioned that Maley Drive is a key to a lot of development in the city.

Construction on a Maley Drive extension has yet to begin and is still awaiting funding,  but is listed as a short and medium term project in the master plan.

A Montrose Street extension also garnered some interest from a number of citizens who came to oppose the long term plan.

A public open house will be held at Tom Davies Square sometime in the next two to three weeks for the public to have their say on the master plan.
