If it seemed hotter than usual yesterday, that’s because it was.

In fact, Greater Sudbury broke the weather record for the hottest July 28 on record, when the temperature soared to 33.5°Celsius.

The record had been 30.6°Celsius from 25-years ago (1990).

We came within a half a degree of breaking Monday’s (July 27) record from 52 years ago.

Today’s daytime high is expected to hit 30, while the 27-year record for this date is 35-degrees.

The region remains under a Heat Warning from Environment Canada.

However, according to the latest forecast the hot temperatures should cool to more normal values by Friday.
