A police officer and two nurses are credited for helping a young woman in distress.

The emotionally disturbed 19-year-old female was seen holding on to a pole on the Paris Street bridge, with her feet dangling over the bridge.

Two off-duty nurses who were passing by called 9-1-1.

They then drove under the bridge and tried to calm the woman from below to prevent her from jumping.

Meanwhile, a Greater Sudbury Police Officer began talking with the teen.

During the conversation ha was able to grabbed her around the waist and pulled her to safety.

She was taken to hospital for examination.
