The group that wants to build a new arena, entertainment and business centre in Greater Sudbury is upping the ante.

True North Strong announced plans today that would see the seating capacity upped to 7,000 – 8,000 along with the addition of two ice pads.

Partner Dario Zulich didn’t give a new price tag but suggests it will be more than the original $60-million proposal.

The original plan released last November had seating capacity at 5,000 to 6,000.

The proposed site is off the Kingsway across from Levesque street.

Joe Draggo, speaking on behalf of the Sudbury Sports Hall of Fame, says he’s loved the Sudbury Community Arena, but it’s done it’s duty and it’s time for the city to move forward.
