The health care system must focus on people, not just their illness.

That was the message Ontario’s Deputy Minister of Health had at last night’s Annual General Meeting of Health Sciences North.

Dr. Bob Bell says patients and physicians want health care to be more user-friendly, which is the basis of the provincial government’s new Patients First Action Plan for Health Care.

Dr. Bell says patients need to know how the system works and that they’re getting the right care from the right provider.

H-S-N highlighted several achievements including a patient satisfaction rate of 97%, approval and funding for a permanent PET scanner and the introduction of several surgical procedures.
