Greater Sudbury Police were called to the Montrose area of New Sudbury on Saturday where a bear was shot and killed.

Officers determined the bear was shot in an unknown location and then died where it was found in the back yard of a residence.

The bear was removed by the city with help from police and concerned residents.

Police remind the public shooting a gun in the city limits is a criminal offense and may lead to charges.
