The annual flooding problem on Highway 537 at Jumbo Creek with the road being closed today, but there’s hope on the horizon.

The Ministry of Transportation has an engineering firm doing field and design work right now.

Regional issues Advisor Gordan Rennie says the likely solution would be raising the grade of the road for about a kilometre and install and larger culvert underneath it.

Rennie says they’re fully committed to the project and they hope to have the project start and finish in 2018.
