It was the morning of Friday May 12th at 6:30am when Jenny Larosse emailed KiSS Breakfast in Sudbury asking for a favour. Her grandmother and “best friend”, who Jenny describes as “the only constant person in my life”, is spending her final days in palliative care after a devastating stage 3 cancer diagnosis. Margot is a mother if three & has seven great-grandchildren, which means A LOT of people love her very, very much.

Her health was rapidly deteriorating not only because of her terminal illness but also because she had completely lost her appetite. Jenny says this was incredibly concerning for her family, explaining how her soon to be 84-year-old grandmother enjoyed cooking homemade meals right up until her surgery. Jenny tells KiSS that the day her beloved grandma Margot went into septic shock “was the scariest day of my life”.

One day, Margot tried a food she would never have found appetizing before… Kraft Dinner.
Which is weird because prior to her cancer diagnosis, she always cooked good and hearty German dishes from scratch…. But now, she can’t get enough KD!”  Jenny explains.

She told KiSS Breakfast with Shannon & Beecher that when her grandmother Margot sees a bowl of KD coming her way, “she lights up with a smile”.

“We can’t get her to eat much at all, but the one thing she will ALWAYS request and ALWAYS agree to is Kraft Dinner”

Now, the only thing Grandma Margot will eat is Kraft Dinner. Not just the classic KD boxes, but “those tiny little pots” of Kraft Dinner “filled with delicious golden cheesy goodness”

She says her grandmother “literally scrapes the pot clean” and the family has to buy her “cases of Kraft Dinner”. Margot is “no longer losing weight” and finally enjoys eating again.

KiSS Breakfast absolutely fell in love with the bond that Jenny shares with her grandmother Margot, and they really wanted to meet the woman who loves her cheesy noodles.

Of course, KiSS couldn’t show up empty handed, so they shared Margot’s story on the radio and received several messages from generous Sudburians who wanted to donate boxes and boxes of Kraft Dinner for Margot.

At this point, KiSS had already reached out to Kraft Dinner through their official Twitter & Facebook page to see if they could do something special for Margot. Guess what? They wrote back to @kisssudbury and said “We’ve reached out to the family and are coordinating a special delivery for Margot. Thx!”

How awesome are the folks at KD for doing this?!

Eric Bernier shared a picture on the KiSS Sudbury Facebook page with the caption:
“I
work for Fedex here in Sudbury and today we got a shipment of KD so we will be delivering 13 cases of KD to grandma Margot from Kraft Canada”

Even Canadian rocker and cancer survivor Bif Naked retweeted our tweet!

Shannon & Beecher dropped by St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre on Tuesday to meet the woman who has melted our hearts into a cheesy mess.

Thanks to Kraft Dinner and all Sudburians who donated boxes of Kraft Dinner for Margot.
