Orange Is The New Black actress Ruby Rose is kind of regretting how quick she was to slam Katy Perry on social media. It all started when Perry released her new single, “Swish Swish,” which fans believe is a song about Taylor Swift (one of her best friends).

Meanwhile, when Jimmy Fallon asked Katy Perry if her song “Swish Swish” was about “anybody we know?” she responded:

I think it’s a great anthem for people to use whenever somebody’s trying to hold you down or bully you. That’s kinda what this record is about, it’s just like 360-degree liberation”, she said about her fifth studio album “Witness”.

Prior to making this statement to Fallon, Rose had simply heard the song, and rushed  to  Taylor’s defense on social media.

Now, Ruby Rose is taking a step back and apologizing for the way she went about protecting her friend, T-Swift.

When Entertainment Weekly asked Perry if her new album “Witness” would have a diss track for T-Swift, she said:

“Well, that’s not my question to answer — if it’s about me. I think [my new album is] a very empowered record. There is no one thing that’s calling out any one person. One thing to note is: You can’t mistake kindness for weakness and don’t come for me. Anyone. Anyone. Anyone. Anyone. And that’s not to any one person and don’t quote me that it is, because it’s not. It’s not about that. Honestly, when women come together and they decide to unite, this world is going to be a better place. Period end of story. But, let me say this: Everything has a reaction or a consequence so don’t forget about that, okay, honey. [Laughs] We got to keep it real, honey. This record is not about anyone else! This record is about me being seen and heard so that I can see and hear everyone else! It’s not even about me! It’s about everything that I see out there that I digest. I think there’s a healing in it for me and vulnerability. If people want to connect and be healed and feel vulnerable and feel empowered and strong, God bless and here it is.”

If you’re asking yourself, “How did this whole Katy Perry / Taylor Swift feud all start?”….here’s the story.

Remember when Taylor Swift released her 2014 track “Bad Blood’? Well, apparently that song was about Katy Perry

Shortly after releasing the “Bad Blood” music video with her squad of assassins, she told Rolling Stone that the song was about a female artist. She wouldn’t say who, but she did say this person “did something so horrible” to her.

Swift said:
“For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not. She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, ‘Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?'”

“I was like, ‘Oh, we’re just straight-up enemies. And it wasn’t even about a guy! It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me. And I’m surprisingly non-confrontational—you would not believe how much I hate conflict. So now I have to avoid her. It’s awkward, and I don’t like it.”

The next day, Katy Perry tweeted out a “Mean Girls” reference, “Watch out for the Regina George in sheep’s clothing”. Fans of both artists believe this was Katy’s way of saying that deep down Taylor is a “mean girl” who acts nice on the surface.

On Monday night’s Carpool Karaoke Primetime Special, Katy Perry got candid about her feud with Taylor Swift. “That’s true, there is a situation,” she declared when James Corden asked her about it. “Honestly, it’s really like she started it and it’s time for her to finish it.” She went on to confirm that the disagreement was about backup dancers and that she tried to talk to Swift about it to no avail. “She wouldn’t speak to me,” Perry explained. “It was a full shut-down and then she writes a song about me and I’m like ‘OK, cool, cool, cool. That’s how you wanna deal with it? …You do something and there’s going to be a reaction. And trust me daddy, there’s going to be a reaction. It’s all about karma.” Corden’s response:  “I find it weird when you call me daddy.” He also asked the pop star if she’d be willing to let the entire situation blow over if she received a text from Swift saying “the beef is off the grill.” Perry laughed and replied, “Yeah, absolutely–100 percent.”
