Science North will be able to reach further into Northern Ontario more often with a federal government investment of 187 thousand dollars.

The investment will allow the science centre to do three years of outreach programs in first nation communities all over the north.

Karel Grant, Education Administrator with Serpent River First Nation says Science North has been in the area for the past four years and the results are showing, with more children interested and a handful of high school students looking to incorporate what they learned in post secondary.

Director of Education/Northern Programs for Science North, Nicole Chiasson says they will focus on elementary age children.

Science North will provide close to 400 visits and do over 70 teacher work shops over three years.

The money was provided through the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada.
