A northern Ontario community has the highest murder rate in Canada.

Thunder Bay was tops in the country among major cities followed by Edmonton and Regina as Statistics Canada released it’s annual crime stats.

With eight homicides in 2016, Thunder Bay(6.64 homicides per 100,000 population) recorded the highest homicide rate with more than double the homicide rate of the second and third worst cities Edmonton(47 homicides, or a rate of 3.39) and Regina(8 homicides, or a rate of 3.23).

Last year there were just three major city’s with zero murders, Greater Sudbury was one of them.
