Sudbury Police say a suspicious package found at the Byng Tot Lot near Lorne Street was a small homemade firework.

On July 31st, officers were called to the lot after a woman found a small cylindrical object that was duct taped, had wires coming out of it and was partially buried in a sandbox.

OPP were called in and the device was removed and later found to be a homemade firework that was no danger to the public.

Police are searching the neighbourhood for information and potential video of the area.

If anyone finds a similar device in their yard they are asked to contact police and to not go near it.
