The Sudbury and District Health Unit have confirmed a human West Nile case.

The health unit says lab tests confirmed west nile in an adult in the East side of Sudbury, it’s just the third confirmed case in the Sudbury area, the first in 2006 and the second in 2015.

West nile is spread to humans through infected mosquitoes.

The overall risk of becoming infected is low as 80 per cent of people infected do not show symptoms at all while 20 per cent will experience a fever, headache, body ache, nausea and rashes on the chest stomach or back.
