The Sudbury Cycling Grannies took the maiden ride across Sudbury’s first “crossride” at the intersection of Paris Street and Ramsey Lake Road.

The “crossride” provides cyclists a safe path to cross the busy intersection and is part of a 1.5 km bike and walking path added to Paris Street.

It’s part of a new cyclist track from York Street to Walford Road.

Active Transportation Coordinator, Marisa Talarico says the 1.5 kms of active transportation improvements and “crossride” are exciting but just the beginning.

Head of the Sudbury Cyclist Union, Rachelle Niemela says this is something they’ve been looking forward to in Sudbury for some time.

The project funding was split three ways between the city, province and federal government.
