30 years ago the Edgar Burton Christmas Food Drive began and since then over one thousand tonnes of food has been donated in Sudbury helping those in need during the holidays.

The food and monetary donations help the Sudbury Food Bank get through the holidays and Winter months helping over 16 thousand people per month.

Food Bank Administrator Dan Xilon says it’s impressive that every year the food drive grows.

Local students have played a major role as Kids Helping Kids brought in over 250 thousand food units last season, Campaign Ambassador, Kerri Monaghan says it’s important that students understand how far a dollar can go for someone in need.

That was Jazmyn Johns, a Grade 7 student at Macleod Public School who has taken part for the last few years.

The Edgar Burton Food Drive and Kids Helping Kids campaign will run until December 15th.
