For the first time ever, the Gerber spokes-baby is a child with Down’s Syndrome

18-month-old Lucas Warren from Georgia is making history after his parents submitted his picture “on a whim” to a photo contest that garnered more than 140,000 entries from children around the world.

Lucas’ parents were awarded a $50,000 prize and the most priceless gift of all….pride. His parents plan to put that money towards Lucas’ education.

Gerber President and CEO Bill Partyka released a statement saying:
“Lucas’ winning smile and joyful expression won our hearts this year, and we are all thrilled to name him our 2018 Spokesbaby. Every year, we choose the baby who best exemplifies Gerber’s longstanding heritage of recognizing that every baby is a Gerber baby, and this year, Lucas is the perfect fit.”

Lucas’ proud Dad Jason Warren told Today:
“We’re hoping this will impact everyone — that it will shed a little bit of light on the special needs community and help more individuals with special needs be accepted and not limited. They have the potential to change the world, just like everybody else.”
