Sudbury Police were called in to a potential bomb threat at St. Andrew’s Place but it turned out to be a false alarm.

Officers got the call around 1:40 pm on Thursday after a briefcase was found tucked behind a door on the fourth floor which divides a stairwell and a common hallway.

Police evacuated apartments on the 3rd, 4th and 5th floor adjacent to the stairway as a precaution, and sent in members of the Explosive Disposal Unit at around 5:40 pm.

They determined the briefcase didn’t contain any explosive material but police are saying to always air on the side of caution in these cases.
