It was in October that Marvel and The Weeknd announced that a new collaboration was in the works and Abel’s ‘Starboy’ character would soon be a comic book.

We’re now in March and according to a Marvel press, we finally have a release date – The Weeknd Presents: Starboy will drop on June 13.

According to The Weeknd, he says that becoming a superhero was a “dream come true’ and, “Marvel is the pinnacle of success in their field and I’ve been a lifelong fan of their work. To be able to partner with them is a dream come true.”

And the plot: “The city of Alphatron is in the grip of a crime wave, as the terrifying Jack ‘The Chef’ Smiley has unified all criminal organizations with his ruthlessness and strategic genius. Not content with brutally murdering his victims, Smiley also feasts upon their flesh. The citizens live in fear and the police have been directly targeted.  The city is in dire need of a hero. It will not get one, but it will get what it deserves: Starboy!” which was explained by a Marvel comic book junkie.

The Weeknd contributed to the storyline along with La Mar Taylor and Christos Gage and Eric Nguyen and Guru-eFX designed its artwork.

And if this doesn’t tickle your fancy, The Weeknd has a brand new album coming out.  He’s been posting some sweet in-studio pictures on Instagram lately so let’s hope for a new album sometime in 2018.
