The Sudbury Wolves will select Quinton Byfield first overall in the 2018 OHL Draft.

The team unveiled their pick ahead of tomorrow’s draft giving the 6 foot 4, 202 pound Byfield the Jack Ferguson award.

Byfield says the feeling of being drafted first overall was a little overwhelming but he can’t wait to start in Sudbury.

Byfield was in Sudbury for the announcement along with his family and says he’s looking forward to the challenge ahead of being a number one overall pick and the transition to the OHL.

This season with the York-Simcoe Express he had 92 points in just 34 games, the third most points in a season ever in that league, behind Steven Stamkos and Taylor Hall.

Sudbury Wolves GM Rob Papineau says Byfield has all the characteristics of a great player.

The rest of the 2018 OHL Draft goes tomorrow morning.

Byfield will be back up in Sudbury on April 14th and 15th for the Wolves orientation camp at the Sudbury Arena.
