A space in the coding caused a glitch in the new national public alert system for mobile devices in Quebec this morning but there were problems with the Ontario test too.

That’s even though Pelmorex Corporation, which operates the system, quickly corrected it in the hours before the system was tested across Ontario at 1:55 p-m.

A short time later social media was flooded with messages from people confirming they had received the signal, others who had not and still others who appeared startled or even surprised by it.

A good percentage of people we spoke with in Sudbury and on our social media pages said they did not receive the alert.

Some would say they just weren’t Alert Ready.
