The National Basketball League of Canada has the London Lighting, the Halifax Hurricanes and now The Sudbury Five.

That is what the new professional basketball team in Sudbury will be called, as Sudbury Wolves Sports and Entertainment unveiled the brand, logo and jerseys.

Wolves Owner Dario Zulich, who played university basketball himself was excited for the public to finally see what they have been working on.

The marketing team for the franchise says the brand represents the region’s traditional area code where Sudbury is the centre of five major urban communities.

They also made connections to the nickel and five players on the court.

VP of Marketing Andrew Dale says the logo represents a strong and growing city of Greater Sudbury.

SWSE named Bob Johnston as their VP of Basketball Operations and he says the task will be to turn the team into a model franchise.

The Sudbury Five or The Five will open play in the upcoming National Basketball League of Canada season.

They will be the league’s 11th franchise.
