17-year old Julia Jodouin wanted to pursue two things she loved in post secondary school, nursing and baseball…making history wasn’t on her mind.

But in September the St. Benedict Catholic School student will become the second and youngest female to play for a Ontario University Athletics men’s varsity baseball team when she suits up as a pitcher for Laurentian University.

Jodouin says it did take some consideration but couldn’t pass up the opportunity.

She has played for team Ontario U16 girls and team Ontario’s 21U Women’s team where she was named MVP, helping her earn a spot on the Canadian Women’s National team…but this is a different challenge, one she knows will raise some eyebrows.

Head Coach Brodie Jeffery says “Julia not only brings the necessary talent, but also steadfast determination and commitment to the sport.”

The Laurentian Men’s varsity baseball team is entering its first season in the OUA.
