After a month of budget deliberations, Sudbury City Council has approved a budget that will not raise municipal taxes for 2015.

Last night, city council made good on an election promise, and  and Chair of the Finance and Administration Committee, Ward 7 Councillor, Mike Jakubo, calls it a team effort.

Mayor Brian Bigger was proud of how council came together, in what for many, was their first budget experience.

Getting down to zero did not come without cuts.

Council chose to cut some capital projects to the tune of $2.5-million, and reduce the capital roads budget by $1.7-million.

City staff will now dive right into the 2016 budget, as they will need to find around $6-million in savings to make up for the tax freeze.

They must do that before December.
