Since the Hike For Hospice began nine years ago $800,000 has been raised for the Maison Vale Hospice in Sudbury.

The annual family-oriented walk is set for Sunday, May 3rd this year starting at the Grace Hartman Amphitheatre and running along the Boardwalk.

Executive Director Leo Therrien says many of the participants are family members of former residents who’ve used the hospice for end of life care.

He says these family members want to give back to the hospice, but they also want to see other families they met, along with the caregivers and volunteers.

The 2015 goal is $155,000 which will go towards operating dollars for the hospice and its palliative care outreach programs.

Maison Vale Hospice is an 10-bed facility on Bethel Lake which provides end-of-life care for those who are in palliative stages of an illness.

Details on the hike as well as pledge forms can be found at www.maisonsudburyhospice.org
