The ice is melting away, and soon anglers will head out onto local waterways to fish.

But cleanup is still happening for ice huts used during the winter.

Conservation Officer Wes McLellan says the deadline was March 31st, and usually people are pretty good with collecting, however last year a few were left out in the Sudbury area.

McLellan says these huts are often difficult for the ministry to retrieve.

Leaving a hut on the ice past the deadline can lead to a fine of up to 25 thousand dollars or one year of jail time.
