The General Manager of Vale’s Ontario operations is leaving the company.

Kelly Strong handed in his resignation to take effect May 1st.

The news caught many by surprise including the president of Steelworkers Local 6500 Rick Bertrand who says contract negotiations will continue.

The two sides are in the midst of negotiations as the contract for 2700 workers expires May 31st.
