Students across the Rainbow District School Board were getting lessons in environmental stewardship today.

It’s Earth Day all around the world and elementary schools within the board were marking the event with a number of different activities, including clean-ups, recycling, composting and taking litter-less lunches.

Ontario Eco-Schools Board Lead, David Wiwchar, who is also the Principal for Webbwood Public School, says small changes can make a difference.

He says students understand a lot more known how their choices can lead to a better world in the future.

Wiwchar says educational leaders love seeing students participate in environmental efforts.

Earth Day is celebrated every April 22nd as a way to educate and inspire all ages and backgrounds to improve and protect the environment.
