MMTS

There’s a big need for skilled workers in the mining industry.

Those behind this year’s Modern Mining and Technology Week are hoping to entice young people to make that career choice.

Communications Chair, Alana Arcand, says the activities are all about changing perceptions.

She says mining has changed dramatically since the early days of the industry.

Plus there are many more options for career paths, and Arcand says that’s what they try to get across to young people at the week-long event.

The MMTS Week kicks off Friday

It’s also meant to engage and educate the public on mining with exhibits on showcase at the New Sudbury Centre Centre, Saturday.

200 free passes to Dynamic Earth will be given out during the Showcase, April 25th.

Other activities planned throughout the week include a Business luncheon for networking, the Wild and Scenic Film Festival, MineOpportunity Games, tours and Dynamic Earth experiences.
