Rainbow School

Many local high school students will not have classes on Tuesday as teachers in the Rainbow District School Board are officially on strike.

The Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation released a statement saying the board’s refusal to engage in real negotiations left teachers with no other option, while RDSB Board Chair Doreen Dewar says she’s extremely disappointed with the decision to strike.

Monday is a professional development day, so the first classes that will be effected will be Tuesday and with the talks deadlocked there is no idea how long the strike could last.

Rainbow District is the second to face strike action…last Monday high school teachers in Durham Region hit the picket lines.
