High school teachers in Sudbury are hitting the picket lines today, after talks with the Rainbow District School Board collapsed over the weekend.

Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation District 3 President James Clyke said Saturday, that the board rejected every issue the union raised.

But Rainbow District School Board Chair Doreen Dewar denies that, and says the board is “ready to negotiate at any time.”

For now the strike only affects high schools in the Rainbow District School board however the elementary school teachers as well as the Catholic School Board have supported a strike and could follow next month.

Sudbury Police remind drivers there may be traffic delays as picket lines have been set up as of 7:30 this morning.
