There is a new owner of the vacant Target store on Lasalle Boulevard in Sudbury.

Canadian Tire Corporation has acquired a dozen real estate leases across the country formerly held by Target, including the 86,000 square foot location at Sudbury’s Super Mall.

The entire deal costs $17.7-million.

In fact, Sudbury and Aurora are the only Ontario locations to be scooped up by the hardware retailer.

Target closed 133 stores in February and March after just two years in the Canadian market.

Canadian Tire says customers will benefit from more convenient locations and larger stores.
