The teens who are a part of Sudbury Youth Rocks may not be able to follow through on upcoming gigs they’re scheduled to perform.

That’s because the vehicle they currently use is unsafe to transport the kids.

The program’s Administrator, Julie St Germain says there is no power steering in the vehicle and the transmission is done.

Plus the vehicle no longer locks, so there is a risk the equipment could be stolen.

The non-profit group has started an online fundraising campaign to collect $5,000, which should be enough to purchase a new-to-them vehicle.

So far they’ve raised over $700.

Performing in front of others provides the kids with confidence in themselves and St Germain says not being able to do that would impede a big part of what the program is meant to do.
