SchoolBus

By Angela Gemmill

There will be extra traffic on the roads today as students return to class for the new school year.

Police want to remind motorists to drive with caution since kids will be excited and not thinking about safety.

There are several traffic rules to remember…firstly, failing to stop for the flashing lights of a school bus could result in a fine of between 400 and two-thousand dollars and six demerit points.

Speeding in a school zone is also a big no-no.

Police will have extra officers patrolling around schools to make sure those driving through the safety zones are doing so at a reduced speed.

Also, keep in mind crossing guards will be back at their posts at busy intersections.
