Highway 69

Fresh and paved, a new 9 kilometre four-laned stretch of Highway 69 opened today.

The stretch of road just passed the Killarney turnoff is now part of 59 kilometres of Highway 69 that has been improved by the province since 2003.

Four-laning right to Parry Sound by 2019-2021 is still the goal and John Kennedy, with the Chamber of Commerce says once it’s complete it will open new doors economically for the North.

Sudbury M-P-P Glenn Thibeault says the project is on schedule and talks between the first nations of the area have been going well.

An additional 11 kilometres will be opened next summer meaning Highway 69 will be divided highway right to the French River.

The four-laning of Highway 69 is part of a 130 billion dollar investment from the province over 10 years, the largest infrastructure investment in Ontario’s history.
