Members of the Sam Bruno PET Steering Committee called yesterday’s government announcement of the permanent PET scanner for Sudbury, the best Christmas gift ever.

Sam Bruno lost his battle with cancer nearly six years ago but got the ball rolling on the importance of having a Positron Emmisson Tomography Scanner for the North.

His brother, Frank Bruno and the Steering Committee have been working with the community to raise funds for either a mobile or permanent scanner, since his dealth.

The government will cover annual operational costs of the PET scanner, now it’s up to the community to raise money for the estimated four million dollar scanner.

Committe Member, Brenda Tessaro says it will be a lot easier now with the government backing.
