As of January 1st, if you are over the age of 55 in Sudbury the title of senior won’t be attached to your name.

In December, city council changed a user fee by-law that redefines the starting age of a senior from 55 to 65.

Discounted senior rates for leisure, parking and transit services will apply to those over 65, with changes affecting transit fares coming into effect March 1st.

A survey on Ontario municipalities found that Sudbury was only one of two public transit providers offering discounts staring at 55 and the move could save the city 175 thousand dollars in 2016.
