Audit Into Mayor's Expenses Rejected

Sudbury Mayor Brian Bigger will not be audited for his election expenses.

The City of Greater Sudbury Compliance Audit Committee decided earlier today that a complaint filed by Bernard Garner did not warrant an investigation into irregularities in Bigger’s election expences that had since been corrected.

Bigger says he is happy the situation is behind him.

Bigger’s lawyer, Jack Siegel, says in his experience almost every campaign which are run by mostly volunteers contain some errors.

The committee made up of four members voted to reject the audit saying taxpayers would be left to foot the bill of the audit.

Garner and his lawyer now have 30 days to appeal.
