It’s been close to a year since the province decided to move the OPP Search and Rescue Helicopter from Sudbury to Orillia.

Which is too long for Sudbury City Council who passed a motion that would request the province expedite the process to bring back the helicopter.

Ward 4 Councillor Evelyn Dutrisac was the one who brought the motion forward.

Dutrisac says the motion will be passed along to all northern municipalities who she hopes will get on board as well.

Dutrisac says it’s important especially in the winter months when a person in need may not be able to get assistance due to weather conditions.

The province decided in April 2015 to move the helicopter from Sudbury to Orillia after 25 years in the city.
