Sudbury’s Cambrian College is among the 24 community colleges from across the province asking the government to invest more in applied research projects.

The colleges would like to see $30-million set aside in the upcoming provincial budget for college research.

Cambrian’s President Bill Best says research helps to create future jobs.

He says they earned $1.56 million in research income last year.

Cambrian College has 57 industry partners and has completed 61 projects since 2009 involving 150 students and 33 faculty.
