The Coldest Night Of The Year event was a huge success in Sudbury raising over 50 thousand dollars.

According to the fundraising website, over 200 walkers took part but officials say late registrations pushed that over 300, and over 54 thousand dollars will be going to the Samaritan Centre downtown.

Between 300 to 400 people who deal with homelessness and poverty use the centre’s three services daily.

According to a 2015 study done by Laurentian University, 1,540 people said they were homeless or at risk of being homeless, which was 62 less than Vancouver.
