The Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce and Ontario Chamber are calling on the provincial government to balance the budget by 2017-18.

The two chamber’s released the 2016 Ontario Pre-Budget Submission this week calling for debt elimination, more engagement on cap and trade and a focus on job creating initiatives.

Chair of the Sudbury Chamber, Karen Hourtevenko says getting back to a fiscal balalnce is key to Ontario’s future competitiveness.

She says they also sent Northern Ontario centric items as well, like investments into mining research and technology.

Premier Kathleen Wynne has insisted the deficit will be eliminated by 2017-2018, and the budget is expected to be tabled this afternoon.
