Conservation Sudbury

With the milder temperatures and rain in the forecast, Conservation Sudbury is keeping a close eye on the levels in local waterways.

Already we have seen considerable melting resulting in the pooling of water on streets.

However, the General Manager of Conservation Sudbury Carl Jorgensen says so far so good when it comes to rivers and streams.

He says there are no fears of flooding yetproblems as streams have a lot of capacity to handle the increase in runoff.

Jorgensen says usually the snow-pack measures about 5 inches of water this time of year, but at last check levels were at around 3 inches.

He says with the March Break next week, parents are reminded to keep their kids away from the shorelines because of slippery conditions and fast moving water.
