Concerned about public safety, Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry staff tranquilized a bear that climbed up a tree in a busy New Sudbury neighbourhood.

Police first responded Sunday afternoon after a call about two bears wandering around a housing complex in the area of Lasalle Boulevard and Lansing Avenue.

One bear took off, but the second climbed a tree,

Since the area has a high amount pedestrian traffic, mostly kids, police called in the M-N-R.

When the bear didn’t come down out of the tree, it was tranquilized and transported to another location.
