It is the deadliest mass shooting in US history and the nation’s worst terror attack since 9/11. 50 people were killed and 53 critically injured at an Orlando gay nightclub early Sunday morning. CNN reports that American-born 29-year-old Omar Mateen carried an assault rifle and a pistol into the venue Pulse at about 2 a.m. and began shooting. He also called 911 during the attack to pledge allegiance to ISIS. Following a three-hour standoff during which he took dozens hostage, police crashed through Pulse in an armored vehicle and and killed Mateen. According to the AP, the gunman was born in New York and last lived in in Fort Pierce, about 120 miles southeast of Orlando. He worked as a security guard and had a license to carry a firearm. However, Mateen’s ex-wife called him abusive and “mentally unstable.” His parents, who are from Afghanistan, said they once witnessed him express outrage after seeing two men kiss in Miami, but had no idea he was connected to ISIS. Meanwhile, FBI interviewed Mateen in both 2013 and 2014 after he expressed sympathy for suicide bomber, but determined that he was not a threat. President Barack Obama called the shooting an “act of terror” targeting a place of “solidarity and empowerment” for gays and lesbians. He went on to urge Americans to decide whether this is the kind of “country we want to be.”

Video has emerged of Adele crassly responding to veteran producer Tony Visconti’s suggestion that her voice isn’t as good as people think it is. “Some d**khead tried to say that my voice was not me on record,” the singer announced to the crowd at her concert in Paris last Thursday. “Dude, suck my d**k.” Visconti, who was David Bowie’s longtime producer, told The Daily Caller in a recent interview, “We know Adele has a great voice, but it’s even questionable if that is actually her voice or how much has been manipulated. We don’t know.” He apologized over the weekend for his remarks. “I’m sorry that what I said in regards to what’s being played on radio was misconstrued yet I cannot apologize for something taken the wrong way. If Adele has taken my comments as offensive that was certainly not my intent,” he tells Billboard.

Johnny Depp has reportedly offered to pay his estranged wife Amber Heard $50,000 a month in spousal support for eight months if she agrees to a mutual restraining order. According to TMZ, Heard refused because she believes she is the victim, not Depp. The outlet also reports that Heard asked that a judge push back her June 17 hearing because she needs more time to prepare her deposition. Meanwhile, Depp’s attorney claims the actress pushed back the court date, which was previously scheduled for June 10, because she is scared that having to testify under oath will ruin her case.  Amid the nasty legal battle, Us Weekly reports that Depp has jetted off to his private island in the Bahamas. Interestingly, the destination is also where Depp and Heard got married in 2015.

Former Voice contestant Christina Grimmie died on Friday night after being shot several times outside her concert in Orlando, Florida. She was 22. CNN reports that the singer was shot by a 27-year-old deranged fan named Kevin James Loibl of St. Petersburg, Florida. According to a police report, Grimmie was signing autographs outside The Plaza Live theater when Loibl approached her armed with two guns and a large kitchen knife and opened fire. After a struggle with the singer’s brother, he shot himself dead. Grimmie was rushed to a nearby hospital where she died. Police have since said they believe Loibl traveled to Orlando with the intent to kill the singer and watched the entire concert before the attack. Grimmie finished in third place on season six of The Voice. Grimmie was a finalist on The Voice back in 2014; Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine mentored her. He, along with many other celebrities, including Blake Shelton, Nick Jonas, Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez, all reacted and paid tribute to the later singer. She was also a close friend of Selena Gomez’s and opened for her on tour in 2012.

Zayn Malik took to Twitter on Saturday to reveal that he was pulling out of his appearance at the Capital Summertime Ball in London because of anxiety. “I cannot apologize enough, but I want to be honest with everyone who has patiently waited to see me,” he wrote about his last minute cancelation. “I promise I will do my best to make this up to everybody I’ve let down today.” His on-again girlfriend Gigi Hadid responded by sharing a supportive message (online for everyone to see, of course).  “I’ve seen the battles you go through and the way you fight to get to a place that allows you to get up there for your fans,” she tweeted. “Your bravery in those times makes me proud, but your honesty last night proved what you’re all about, being real. Human recognizes human… Those who can find compassion now are the ones that deserve to watch you continue to grow… Love you and so proud of you always.”
