It’s been 20 years since the first camera went up in the downtown area as part of the Lions Eye in the Sky Monitoring Program.

Now thanks to community partners, the program celebrated it’s 20th year by announcing it will add a 17th camera.

Coordinator and Technical Support Clerk, Heather Lewis says it has made a difference in community safety.

Police Chief Paul Pedersen says to see volunteers stay on with the program for 20 years speaks volumes to the importance and the community as a whole.

Executive Director of the Downtown Sudbury BIA, Maureen Luoma says it no doubt has had an impact of the growth of the businesses downtown.

The 17th camera will go up near the Ukrainian Senior Centre, overlooking Hnatyshyn Park.
