Sudbury French Schools Running With New Active Classrooms

Yoga mats and elliptical trainers are two items you don’t typically think about when you say the word classroom.

But the French Public School Board in Northern Ontario are hoping that changes as they have provided all 19 of their schools with equipment that transforms ordinary classrooms into active classrooms.

CSPGNO officials say sitting in extended periods is now recognized as a public health concern as studies have compared effects on health to that of smoking.

It’s the first school board in the Greater Sudbury area to fit classes with desk cycles, under desk elliptical trainers, ball desk chairs, adjustable standing desks and yoga mats.
